Social Sciences
Students Collecting Items for Sugartree Community Six of Wilmington College's social work students engaged in community outreach during visits to Sugartree Ministries and Cape May Retirement Community. PICTURED: Social work students Michael Frisch, Sarah Duron-Babb, Tori Moore and Caitlin Campbell enjoyed a Halloween celebration with residents at Cape May Retirement Community. The Sugartree group — comprised of Michael Frisch, Sarah Duron-Babb, Tori Moore, Jessica Crutchleo, and Jillian Lewis — helped prepare and serve a meal before interviewing several community members, volunteers and the director to gain a greater insight into the needs of those citizens who utilize Sugartree's services. The class is engaged in a collection across campus asking the Wilmington College community to donate menstruation products, socks and other warm clothing between now and Nov. 22. Campus drop-off points include 154 Pickett North, the Writing Center, Bailey 205, the Office of Diversity + Inclusion and Watson Library. The Introduction to Social Work student cohort of Michael Frisch, Sarah Duron-Babb, Tori Moore and Caitlin Campbell offered Cape May residents a special Halloween celebration by helping with cookie decorating, staging a Halloween trivia contest and leading a sharing of personal stories with the residents.  The students especially enjoyed hearing from residents in their 90s about what life was like when they were college-age.
